Fun Palaces

Theatre Deli is opening its brand new shiny doors for a Fun Palaces weekend! Hosting an array of free activities from arts and crafts to tours of our new theatre space, come along to explore, make and more! In collaboration with local organisations including Edge of the Universe and SHINE, this weekend is open and accessible to all ages and abilities.

In the 1960s Joan Littlewood and architect Cedric Price came up with the idea of a Fun Palace- a ‘laboratory of fun’ and ‘a university of the streets’. Since then it has grown into a nationwide annual initiative made by local people for their own communities, bringing together arts and sciences, crafts, tech and digital, free and fun. In 2016 there were 292 Fun Palaces, led by 4800 local people, with 124,000 people taking part.

Come along and join in the fun!
