Flabbergast theatre: Puppet Poker Pit
1st Floor

web picture 2

The Puppet Poker Pit is a seedy poker den dominated by the huge characters of two eastern European puppets Boris and Sergey; a foul mouthed Laurel and Hardy double act that will charm and delight. Dripping pipes, bare bulbs, and a sinister presence that lurks just out of sight. try your hand… how good is your poker face?

Flabbergast was set up to make uncompromising and exciting physical theatre drawing on the Bunraku style of puppetry and a belief that all theatre should be engaging and sweaty. It believes that its actors are its single greatest resource and as such endeavours to create theatre through an extensive and collaborative research and development process. The company was founded by the actor Henry Maynard in response to a desire to utilise his hand crafted puppets and puppetry training with Blind Summit.

Theatre Souk Profiles – FoxedUP

FoxedUP : Priceless
Basement

foxedup

“The first rule of PRICELESS: don’t break the rules.”

Forced underground, following the death of a contestant live on air, the once prime-time game show – PRICELESS – now exists within a cult world of pop-up TV, piracy and viral marketing; a world in which there are no morals, no limits and no consequences. Far from the regulations of family-friendly drama, this is a world where suffering and humiliation are tradable commodities, and where personal tragedy is a small price to pay for an evening’s entertainment.

If you can find us, will you join us…? Are you game?

FoxedUP Theatre is an all-female, actor-led collective, founded to address what was seen as a gap in the theatre landscape. The aim is to create exciting, challenging roles for actresses, by devising new work and re-imagining existing tales. The emphasis is on exploring the here and now - our shared present – and exploring universal themes within the context of our own experiences.

Critical praise for Visits

"A welcome and gripping visitation - performances captivating." -- 4 stars, Remote Goat

"The setting is perfect - like a pre-global warming glacier. Nothing in Visits is solid, nothing neatly tied together. It's a corrugated Norwegian fog." -- Snipe Magazing

"Unsettling sense of the absurd - precisely acted." -- Time Out

"A dark enigmatic play. Fosse shows how powerful an impact a stranger can have on a family." -- Extra Extra
