"A raucous, hearty, simple and very enjoyable night" British Theatre Guide
Tacit Theatre's take on the Canterbury Tales puts the audience at the heart of the action as the space has been turned into a fully functioning medieval tavern complete with live music and a bar, serving real ale and mulled wine throughout the show.
The tales unfold in a mixture of song, dance and general mischief, as a group of travelers, rogues and wenches tell Geoffrey Chaucer’s tales, which have delighted, disgusted and entertained for centuries. From the antics of adulterous lovers, to the revenge of cuckolded husbands and the villainy of crafty knaves, the characters remain as entertaining and recognizable today as they were in the 14th century.
So dig out your tunic and britches, grab a tankard of ale or a glass of mulled wine, and be prepared to laugh at the triumphs and misfortunes of the charismatic characters of a bygone age.
