Critical praise for Visits

"A welcome and gripping visitation - performances captivating." -- 4 stars, Remote Goat

"The setting is perfect - like a pre-global warming glacier. Nothing in Visits is solid, nothing neatly tied together. It's a corrugated Norwegian fog." -- Snipe Magazing

"Unsettling sense of the absurd - precisely acted." -- Time Out

"A dark enigmatic play. Fosse shows how powerful an impact a stranger can have on a family." -- Extra Extra

2nd - 30th August 2010, Zoo Roxy, Edinburgh

Pedal Pusher is the true story of the Lance Armstrong, Marco Pantani and Jan Ullrich - three professional cyclists battling to become champion of the Tour de France.

Drawing on interviews, archive footage and news reports, theatredelicatessen use devised performance and physical theatre to carry the audience through the mountains, the sprints, the crashes and into the intriguing dangerous world of professional sport

In Summer 2009, theatredelicatessen's production Pedal Pusher took London fringe theatre by storm. Now, in 2010, we are transferring to The Sanctuary, at Zoo Roxy as part of the Edinburgh Fringe.

Pedal Pusher Ed Fringe

Marco was incredible. The Italian hero courted by politicians, partied with rockstars and adored by his fans. Marco was the champion the Pope himself asked to meet. He should have been the greatest cyclist of his generation.

But Marco is lying dead in a hotel in Rimini.

And the greatest is an American called Lance.

After all, to put yourself through all this for the sake of a bicycle race you'd have to be crazy.

Or on drugs.

Casting Call | Pedal Pusher

May 10th, 2010 by Roland Smith

TheatreDelicatessen will be transferring their Time Out Critics’ Choice production of Pedal Pusher to the Edinburgh Fringe 2010.

Due to unavailability of one of the original team, we are looking to recast the part of Jan Ullrich.

Pedal Pusher is a compelling piece of physical theatre that draws on interviews, archive footage and news reports to recreate the battles between Lance Armstrong, Jan Ullrich and Marco Pantani - three professional cyclists battling to be champion of the Tour de France.

Using devised performance and physical theatre to depict an extraordinary era in the Tour de France, Pedal Pusher the audience through the mountains, the crashes, the sprints and into the intriguing, dangerous world of professional sport.

Jan Ullrich | Character Breakdown

Jan Ullrich is a male, German professional cyclist in his mid to late twenties, with Athletic / Slim build.

Although Jan has a strong physicality and presence, he is thoughtful and questioning. Having grown up in communist East Germany, Jan finds it hard to deal with the celebrity of being a famous sportsman.

Experience of physical and/or devised theatre preferable
