theatredelicatessen would like to say a massive thank you to the incredible companies who made up what was indeed the pop-up theatre event of the year, and of course to the audience members who came to join in with the fun and mayhem. Contractions by Mike Bartlett.
Mike Bartlett (Earthquakes in London, Cock)’s absurd comedy about the delicate line between our working and private lives premiered at the Royal Court in 2008 to critical acclaim.
Fly’s stark new revival, staged in a real office, invites the audience to join Emma’s meeting as it tumbles towards chaos…

Come in. Sit down. How are you?

“We are careering towards a society, Bartlett implies, that sees all and understands nothing... [the script is] grotesquely funny - and it chills to the bone." – The Times (2008) on Contractions

An extra lunchtime performance at 1pm on 27th Oct
(Running time approx 50mins).

DYS-PLA festival

theatredelicatessen is proud to support this festival of work by dyslexic playwrights. Please continue our support by spreading the word.

"msft has consistently worked with dyslexic practitioners since 2007 to raise awareness of the creative benefits neuro-diversity brings to the arts. From our humble beginnings in pub venues, under previous festival titles of 'Dys(the)lexi' and 'dyssing-mondys', we celebrate our biggest venture so far, the DYS-PLA festival of new plays by dyslexic writers.

"We kick off the C festival with a Charity Gala night and wine reception, with our Special guest, Jim Cartwright, who will host the tour-de-force of dyslexic creativity. The evening will present extracts from each play programmed throughout the week, along with a full scale production of Matthew Scurfield's dramatised autobiography, 'I Could be Anyone'. Over the DYS-PLA "Festival week, (2-6th November) we will present a double bill of the following titles: Cheery Cack, written by Susan Sainsbury, directed by Janet Palmer, The Death Of Norman Tortilla, written by Charlotte Coates, directed by Tom Latter, Just a Game, written by Paul Hine, directed by Emily Jenkins and Susanna, written by N N Rakshin, directed by Adam Marchan."

Casting Call – A Doll’s House

October 7th, 2010 by Frances Loy

CASTING CALL FOR A DOLL'S HOUSE

TheatreDelicatessen will be presenting a new adaptation of A Doll's House by Ibsen as their final production at their current residency at Picton Place.

We are looking for an ALL FEMALE ensemble cast and will not at this stage be looking to cast specific parts. The actresses playing the male roles will still be playing them as men. We are hoping to cast a group of 5/6 actresses who are able to carry any of the parts without resorting to type and are really interesting in creating a very androgynous look for the piece. Actresses will be cast in specific roles once the ensemble has been formed.

Actresses from all backgrounds and disciplines are encouraged to apply for auditions, but particularly those with experience in ensemble work in immersive theatre spaces.

Auditions

First round auditions will be held 16th-18th October 2010 on an individual basis.
Second round group auditions will be held on the weekend of 23rd/24th October 2010

Please send cv, headshot and availability for auditions to casting.tdeli@googlemail.com
We will endeavour to respond by Thursday 14th October

Production Details

• A Doll's House will be presented at TheatreDelicatessen at 3-4 Picton Place, Wednesday 5th January - Saturday 5th February 2011
• Rehearsals are anticipated to begin part-time in the first week of November and flexible availability will be necessary over the Christmas and New Year periods
• TheatreDelicatessen operates on a revenue sharing basis, whereby all takings on the first performance of each week is divided between the cast

Theatre Souk Profiles – Curving Road

Breathing Corpses by Laura Wade

'A chambermaid enters a hotel room. A man is lying in the bed with the sheet pulled up over his head. This is not the first time, nor will it be the last, that Amy makes a gruesome discovery at work.'

CurvingRoad

CurvingRoad is an organization founded on behalf of the artist. Its mission is to find new artists within a variety of disciplines as they make their way along the curving roads of their own, individual artistic lives, nurture them, advise them, and then, when ready, launch them and their work into the public eye. For more info about who we are and what we’ve done, see our website www.curvingroad.com.

Theatre Souk Profiles – Straight out of line

September 20th, 2010 by admin

Straight Out of Line: Soft Armour
2nd Floor

Website Image

Devised by the cast and written by Laura Stevens

This is likely to be the strangest birthday party you've ever attended. In the middle of a morgue there is a woman who doesn't want to celebrate, with a woman who no longer can. Come and discover how in the shortest time we can live out the fullest of narratives in a story about birth, death and how we get marked in between.

Straight Out of Line Theatre is a collaboration of practitioners who met through the Old Vic New Voices network. Our shows are conceived and devised to speak to our generation about collective passions and questions that we feel need to be addressed in a theatrical conceit, outside the boundaries of normal theatre space.
